Hunting for the Right Words Series – Garden Orb Weaver (Araneus diadematus)

USB cable connections form part of the garden landscape, as these most familiar orb weavers spin threads between them. Book pages are collaged under some of the leaves. In many cultures, spiders are associated with wisdom, alphabets and writing, as people have "seen" letters spun in their webs. Orb weavers are queens of spider-ness to me, the only creature to physically and literally pull a beautiful web out of their bodies, a work of art and a splendid hunting tool.

Hunting for the Right Words is a series exploring how we spin our written words into webs. Using physical book pages as background collage, the series incorporate imagery of USB cables, power strips, and other internet interaction around metaphor-portraits of individual spider species. So do we spin words together and pounce upon them, or throw them like weapons.
